I am a lecturer in International Relations, with the Defence Studies Department at King's College London.

My current research is in political psychology and strategic studies. Right now, I am writing a book titled, 'The psychology of strategy'.

I wrote my PhD, on cognitive psychology and the policymaking of the first-term Clinton administration, at the University of Essex, after taking an MPhil in International Relations from University College, Oxford. I've spent the last decade trying to shake off the rational actor theories that underpinned my undergraduate degree in economics at University College London.

Before coming back to academia, I was a BBC news producer, and worked for its World at One, PM and Panorama programmes. Earlier I was the Corporation’s defence and security analyst. I still make the odd programme.

I live in Oxford, and spend pretty much all of my spare time sculling.
